Player Races
We have our own set of races here at the Covenant, some of which may be unfamiliar to you. Technically, "race" is not the correct term; "species" is more accurate. But, given the common usage among MUDs of the term "race" we'll just go with that. (Actually, a taxonomist might tell you one of "class", "order", or "family" is the correct term, but that gets to be far too confusing!) To some extent, your choice of race will determine what sort of skills you are able to acquire.
The different races tend to be mixed throughout the world in varying proportions. There are few racial "homelands" as such, but in different areas different races will make up the majority of the population. There are no "good" or "evil" races. Individuals may be good or evil, but it would be grossly unfair to tar all members of a given race with the same brush.
Player Races
Human
These kind of guides always describe Human as "go look in the mirror" but I don't even know you. You could be anybody—or anything...
Humans form the majority within most regions of the world. Statistically, they tend to be the yardstick against which the other races are measured. Humans in the Covenant are much like humans in the real world.
Arial
A race with many properties similar to birds such as hollow bones, light builds, and so on. Unlike birds, however, they are unable to fly unaided. The Arial are the builders and flyers of the great airships and have a great deal of magical ability. Not a particularly introspective race, they are not likely to generate many scientists.
The Arial are predominantly Coronaise-speaking, and insist that their racial name is spelled 'Ariel,' which can lead to some confusion. The Arial make up the largest minority in the city of Tierceron.
Feryl
Feryl are a group of humanoids with heightened agility and senses. They have pointed ears, elongated canines, and wild ones still have their claws. They can be effective warriors and fearsome rogues, naturalists, and shamans. They have some magic ability, but nothing spectacular.
Flint
The Flint are a race of sentient stonelike creatures. A slow but thoughtful race, they have produced some of the greatest mages and scientists in the Covenant. They can also be fearsome warriors. They are somewhat clumsy and therefore not terribly good with their hands.
Guri
The Agurimatsu, colloquially known as the Guri, are a race of mana-altered humans who live in the high mountain ranges of the Covenant. They are grey- skinned, short and very strong. They are organized into a strong warrior-based society and aren't terribly magical.
Kilgahari
The Kilgahari are a race of giant, beastlike humanoids. Powerful and quick, they are among the most skilled fighters. They are organized into a pack-like society with a surprisingly rich oral tradition of story-telling and ballad- singing. With very little magical ability, Kilgahari primarily become warriors and rogues.
Fahrin
The Fahrin are a small subterranean race covered in a light fur and with large round eyes. They have two opposable thumbs on each hand, and are extrodinarily clever with machines and devices. They have migrated to the cities, and spend most of their time in the substructures and sewers. They have also produced many great Inventors, and have a small magical ability. They are also a race of professed atheists. The majority of Fahrin live in their home province of Taschlag in the mountainous areas southeast of Tierceron.
